Appealing Silver/Yellow Fish Swims with Jade on Long Black Chain

SKU: 2177
    • This delicate handmade black, silk/polyester chain supports a delightful array of elements, with a striking yellow and black theme.

    • The eye-catching silver fish, with yellow enamel, is made by the Miao tribes in China. The fish is an emblem for abundance and fruitfulness. Its lively form has been made with open-work scales in silver. It has a sweet little flipper. And its curved shape has been created to look as if it were swimming up river. The yellow enamel has been applied to the face and the fin, with a grey enamel shading. It also has inlaid agate eyes. It measures 4cm (1.5”) x 2cm (0.75”) and 11mm deep.

    • Above the fish hangs a yellow and mottled black/grey flat oval which is the gemstone of jasper, known as “bumble bee” jasper at 3.5cm (1.5”) long.

    • This is followed by a vintage Tibetan black jade “vajra”. It is a Buddhist ritual object shape, which symbolizes a thunderbolt. The thunderbolt is thought to be an irresistible force, which Buddhism represents. It measures 2.5cm (1”) across.

    • Lastly, a handmade, etched sterling silver leaf has been crafted by the Karen hill tribes in Thailand. In the Chinese tradition, the leaves of the Cosmic tree represents all of the beings in the universe. It is also a symbol of rebirth.

    • Sterling silver spacers (5mm) are used between the elements.

    • My silver name label is attached to the black chain.

    • The necklace comes, like all my necklaces, with its own colour co-ordinated silk brocaded pouch bag, made by a Shanghai tailor.

    • The necklace is 53.5cm (21”) long, from the top of the chain down to the last silver fish element.
