    • The juicy colour of these natural slices of Australian chrysoprase draws the eye like a magnet. It’s almost a cricket green. But each slice has its own mottled and veined pattern, with touches of the rusty brown rock coming through in places.
    • Because of the rusty brown veins, I added the whisky toned natural Baltic amber, which gives a zing and a resonance to the necklace.
    • Each slice varies in size, from 11/2 inches across (4 cm) down to 3/4 of an inch across (2 cm). Chrysoprase was used by the Greeks, Romans and Egyptians to make seals in jewellery and other ornamental objects. They loved its vivid colour. The modern word come from the literal Greek translation, chrusos, meaning golden, and prason, meaning leek, pointing to the golden leek colour of the stone.
    • The natural Baltic amber glows with warmth and is 1 3/4 inches across (4.5 cm) by 1 1/4 inches wide (3 cm) and 16 mm deep. The Baltic region is home to the largest known deposit of amber. It dates from 44 million years ago. Amber is fossilized tree resin. It has been estimated that these Baltic forests created more than 100,000 tons of amber.
    • I have used a vermeil toggle clasp. Toggle clasps are easy to use and secure. My silver name label is attached at the clasp.
    • The necklace comes, like all my necklaces, with it's own colour co-ordinated silk brocaded pouch bag, made by a Shanghai tailor.
    • The necklace is 20 inches long or 51 cm.
