Grey Tourmaline Quartz Double Strand Necklace with Tibetan Silver
- Vintage Tibetan Silver on Double Strand of Tourmaline Quartz and Sterling Silver On the side of these two, knobbly strands of grey, tourmaline quartz, sits a large (28 mm), vintage, Tibetan silver bead, deeply etched with a dragon. Tibet is Buddhist and the Buddhists revere dragons, like the Chinese. The Tibetan dragon is a creature of great creative power; a positive icon, representing energy, wealth and heaven. They are shape shifters, able to transform at will, from small to giant size, filling the entire sky. The two strands of tourmaline quartz are a natural grey colour with tiny black rutiles within the stone. The beads are a bone shape and are 15 mm long. Both strands feed into two, handmade, fair trade silver beads (14 mm) from the Karen hill tribes of Thailand. A handmade, sterling silver toggle clasp, has been used because toggle clasps are easy to use and secure. My silver name label is attached at the clasp. The necklace comes, like all my necklaces, with its own colour co-ordinated silk brocaded pouch bag, made by a Shanghai tailor. The necklace is 16 1/4 inches long (41 cm).
