Special Garnet & Crystal Multi-Strand Necklace with Antique Georgian Pendant

SKU: 2012
    • In keeping with this exquisite antique Georgian pendant in solid silver with gold decorations, I wanted to create a necklace that had a feel for this period, echoed the pendant, and yet still felt contemporary.
    • The pendant itself is 4.8 cm wide. It is quite elaborate in details with floral decorations in all the corners and a raised oval stone in the centre. It has been divided by four gold, beaded, segment lines. The stones are either pink garnets or light rubies. The remaining stones are what are known as “jargons”. Jargoon is a name applied by gemologists to those zircons which are fine enough to be cut as gemstones.
    • It is a grand, elegant, Georgian piece of jewellery. Although it is unmarked, as such pieces were in that period, it is sterling silver, cleverly highlighted with gold.
    • The three natural garnet strands consist of faceted garnets (3 mm), one in a red garnet, one in a pink garnet and the third, in a pink garnet interspersed with antique rock crystal carved leaves (12 mm x 15 mm).
    • The three strands feed into two into two small, vintage, handmade, Afghan, 18K gold on brass on hardened resin beads (8.5mm), an ancient technique learned from the craftsmen of Alexander the Great.
    • A vermeil toggle clasp has been used because toggle clasps are easy to use and secure. My silver name label is attached at the clasp.
    • The necklace comes, like all my necklaces, with its own colour co-ordinated silk brocaded pouch bag, made by a Shanghai tailor.
    • Length 42 cm (16 1/2") with a 4 cm  (1 1/2")pendant drop.
