    • Without hesitation, this is a “statement” necklace.

    • It begins with a richly translucent, antique, Tibetan, red resin pendant in the shape of a Bi disc, a symbol of long life and harmony. It is 1 ½” (4cm) in diameter and 24mm deep.

    • Mixed resin with amber dust is an old technique in Tibet. Pure amber was enormously expensive. This technique created wonderful beads, which were often used for prayers.  But they were also enjoyed for personal adornment.

    • The pendant hangs on a sterling silver open work bead (16mm).

    • At the centre of the necklace, 2 woven sterling silver boxes, made like origami, but in silver, have been created, like all the silver on the necklace, by the Karen hill tribes of Thailand.  Karen hill tribe silver is pure, 98% silver, made by hand, and each piece is a unique bit of sculpture and craftsmanship.

    • The necklace itself is comprised of smaller, red resin disc beads (20mm), made with texture and rich colouration.

    • There are two handmade pottery beads, (25mm x 18mm) created in China, of a warm, berry red glaze.

    • There are also two, octagonal, silver beads (18mm), two hammered silver beads (17mm), two cube beads of interlaced silver wires, (15mm) and finally two small, woven silver beads (8mm).

    • A handmade, sterling silver toggle clasp, has been used because toggle clasps are easy to use and secure. My silver name label is attached at the clasp.

    • The necklace comes, like all my necklaces, with its own colour co-ordinated silk brocaded pouch bag, made by a Shanghai tailor.

    • The necklace measures 17 inches long (43cm) with a pendant drop of 2 ¾” (7cm).
