Rose Leather Band Necklace with Antique Porcelain & Glass

SKU: 2018
£85.00Price
    • A butterfly, delicate and enchanting as in real life, flies off the antique, Chinese Ching Dynasty (1644-1911) porcelain shard. Hand painted in vivid enamels of blue, rose and a touch of lime, the artisan who captured this butterfly, shaded his colours for a full effect. The almost round shape is slightly arched because it must have originally come from a vase. But because it was so beautifully created, even a fragment like this is a work of art. The Cultural Revolution destroyed so much art of the past, which is why even fragments of antique porcelain are treasured. It is 3 cm across and is framed in a Chinese silver, which, although a very low grade, is a type of silver.
    • The shard hangs on a delicate rose coloured leather band. Four hand blown glass beads slide along the band and compliment the colours of the butterfly. The two green beads (12 mm) are from the Czech Republic and the air twist blue glass beads (13 mm) with a metal interior are from China.
    • A silver toggle clasp has been used because toggle clasps are easy to use and secure. My silver name label is attached at the clasp.
    • The necklace comes, like all my necklaces, with its own colour co-ordinated silk brocaded pouch bag, made by a Shanghai tailor.
    • Length 44 cm (1 1/4")  with a 4 cm (1 1/2")pendant drop.
