Enchanting Enamel Bow (Art Deco) on Necklace of Lapis, Gold & Glass

SKU: 2196
    • A bow is always a feminine element, and this antique, Art Deco (1920’s), red enamel, gold plated-on-silver bow, is no exception. At the knot part of the bow, tiny diamond paste stones give a subtle sparkle. It measures 35mm across and 22mm high.

    • Lovely lapis, pyramid-like cylinders, ranging from 16mm long x 12mm deep, to 9mm long x 12mm deep, form the main part of the necklace.

    • Antique 18K gold on hardened resin shaped beads punctuate the necklace.  These are Antique, handmade, Afghan gold beads which contrast to the lapis in a rich and effective way.  These etched beads are made with a traditional technique, dating back to Alexander the Great, when the Greeks, (330 BC) invaded Afghanistan, bringing their craftsmen with them.  One of their skills was working in 18K gold, using sheet gold and crafting it onto hardened resin, and then decorating it.  The beads vary in size from 13mm to 14mm.

    • Handmade, faceted, vintage Czech, ruby glass beads (13m) repeat the ruby tones of the enamel bow.

    • I have used a handmade, 14k gold vermeil toggle clasp.  Toggle clasps are easy to use and secure. My silver name label is attached at the clasp.

    • The necklace comes, like all my necklaces, with its own colour coordinated silk brocaded pouch bag, made by a Shanghai tailor.

    • The necklace measures 18 inches long (46 cm).
